I had the pleasure of organising a beautiful boho wedding styled shoot at Holmewood Hall, near Peterborough, bringing together some wonderful local wedding suppliers to create plenty of inspiration for couples planning their own day.
And, of course, I couldn’t resist creating a collection of boho wedding cakes for the occasion!
From stone-effect textures and delicate florals to soft neutral colours and dried foliage, there are lots of ideas here that could inspire your own wedding cake and styling.

A Boho Wedding Shoot at Holmewood Hall
Holmewood is one of the most beautiful wedding venues that I have the pleasure in being one of their trusted suppliers. A stunning Tudor Gothic style mansion, surrounded by ten acres of manicured grounds and parkland.
Set in the tiny village of Holme just outside Peterborough and owned by Country House Weddings.
Only a short drive from my home, I get to deliver many luxury wedding cakes throughout the year. Once you drive into the grounds and approach the entrance you are captured by the sheer beauty of the hall.
Inside there are so many little nooks and crannies, you can see why so many couples fall in love with this stunning venue.
Boho Wedding Cakes – Cakes By Carol
This was my first time being part of a wedding shoot and I can honestly say that I loved it. My first Boho wedding cake design and I even made a dinky one too. We took full advantage of the good weather and got some fantastic shots of the ‘Stone Wedding Cake’ in the grounds of Holmewood Hall. Even inside beneath the staircase with the sunlight beaming through, Beth captured the stone effect perfectly.
Natural Textures & Stone-Effect Wedding Cakes
Texture can completely transform a wedding cake, particularly if you’re looking for a more natural, organic boho style.
For this design, I created a stone-effect finish and paired it with dried foliage, delicate branches and soft neutral florals. I love how the imperfect textures work against the beautiful surroundings of Holmewood Hall.
A design like this would work beautifully for a rustic, woodland or bohemian wedding where you want your cake to feel like part of the overall styling rather than something completely separate.
Soft Florals & Romantic Boho Details
Flowers and foliage are such a beautiful way to bring a romantic boho feel to your wedding cake.
Soft blush tones, delicate blooms, dried flowers and natural foliage can all be used to tie your cake into the rest of your wedding styling, from your bouquet and table flowers to the colours and textures used throughout your day.
I love how even a few carefully chosen floral details can completely transform a simple cake, creating something that feels relaxed and natural while still looking beautifully elegant.
When designing your wedding cake, we can take inspiration from your wedding flowers, colour palette and venue to create a design that feels completely at home within your day.
Simple Boho Wedding Cakes
A boho wedding cake doesn’t need to be large or elaborate to make a beautiful statement.
Sometimes a simpler design, with subtle textures, natural colours and carefully chosen details, can be just as striking. A single or two-tier cake decorated with dried foliage, delicate flowers or an interesting textured finish can work beautifully for a relaxed bohemian wedding.
If you’re planning a smaller or more intimate celebration, this style can also be a lovely way to create a cake that feels special without needing a large multi-tiered design.
The most important thing is that your cake feels like you and complements the overall look and feel of your wedding.

I have had the pleasure of working with Beth on many Weddings and have admired her work since we first met. What Beth can do with a camera is amazing, her imagination and creativity is limitless.
Not only is Beth such a lovely lady, she is hugely talented. I was so pleased that she agreed to join our Boho Wedding styled shoot.

Flowers – Lisa of keepsakes Yaxley
Again I have known Lisa for many years and have had the pleasure of working with her on many weddings. Lisa makes the most beautiful flower displays and arrangements that completely transform any room.
Lisa’s has the most gorgeous florist shop in the village of Yaxley full of little bits and bobs. Lisa made up several Boho Wedding bouquets and displays for the wedding shoot, which were all beautiful. Lisa also made flower arrangements for the cakes and the flower hoop.
Hair – Hannah of Lipstick and Hairpins
This was the first time I met Hannah and was recommended by one of the other suppliers. With over fourteen years of experience Hannah provides freelance makeup, hair & beauty for all occasions.
Make up & Model – LAR Beauty Room
Lauren runs her nail and beauty salon business ‘LAR Beauty Room’ from home in Yaxley. Not only did Lauren do her own make up she kindly stepped in to be our ‘Bride’ model for the shoot.
A little nervous to begin with but after a while she took it all in her stride and looked absolutely stunning. With some encouragement from Beth making her feel at ease, Lauren soon settled into her roll for the day.
Dresses – Harveys of Ramsey
Harvey’s of Ramsey is a bridal boutique based in the historic fenland market town of Ramsey. Michelle and Danielle kindly provided us with 3 beautiful Boho style wedding dresses as well as some stunning pieces of headwear.
Venue Dressing – Allensis Special Ocassion Services & Flowerwalls of Cambridge
Deborah who owns both Allensis and Flowerwalls of Cambridge is based in Yaxley, Peterborough. I have worked with Deborah on many weddings and she really has an eye for detail when it comes to venue styling.
Stationary – Carla of Carla Corrado Designs
Based in Werrington Carla mainly designs Wedding stationary and kindly provide us with some beautiful table stationary.
Videography – Amy of ALM Videography
Amy is based in Cambridgeshire and runs a videography and photography business. Amy joined us for the day to film our Wedding Shoot at Holmewood Hall To see the video that Amy put together click HERE
